Reiki FAQ
What is Reiki?
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is the “life force energy”. Therefore Reiki is “spiritually guided life force energy.”
How does Reiki work?
The Reiki energy directs itself to the correct areas where there are blockages and imbalances in the body’s energy system. Reiki restores energy balance and vitality by stimulating the body to heal and starting a process of purification. It opens blocked energy channels and chakras, and clears the energy bodies.
What can Reiki do for me?
All forms of illness and conditions may be affected positively with Reiki. Side effects of medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated. Clients have reported feeling: more creative, more balanced, less emotional, less stressed, more relaxed, more vitality, more awareness, less or no pain, more ability to fall asleep quickly, or more ease of movement.
Are there any harmful side effects from a Reiki treatment?
Most of the time a person will feel relaxed and uplifted by a Reiki treatment. However, sometimes a person may notice that they are detoxifying the waste that has built up in their system. This is part of the bodies healing process. Symptoms of this process are a headache, stomach ache or feelings of weakness. If this happens, you should drink more water, eat lighter meals and get more rest.
How many Reiki sessions do I need?
Every person is a unique individual and has different needs. For example, someone who has physical or emotional issues or concerns, might need to have reiki sessions more often or on a daily basis. While a person who is healthy and just needs the extra balancing and energy boost once in awhile may choose a smaller number of healing sessions. Only you are able to determine how many sessions you should have. Remember that it is not possible to receive an overdose of Reiki and it will always work for your highest good.
After-care: What to do after a Reiki session?
Immediately after your Reiki session, take some time to enjoy the deep state of relaxation and to slowly come back to full awareness. Expect your body to detoxify. You might have to go to the bathroom more frequently, or your skin might release toxins. To help the detoxification process, you should drink lots of water 2-3 days after your treatment.
Who can benefit from Reiki?
EVERYONE! EVERYTHING! People, the world, animals, plants, computers, cars, houses, boats, oceans, desks, literally everything can benefit from Reiki. If you believe the world is made up of energy then the world can benefit from Reiki.
What does Reiki feel like?
Reiki feels differently to everyone, some feel nothing and some feel hot, cold, tingles, prickly energy, and more. I believe depending on the energy that is needed, one can feel many different sensations. What I think is most important to know is, that whatever it is you do or don’t feel is exactly perfect for the situation.
Will a Reiki practioner ever run out of Reiki energy?
No, since the Reiki practioner is using the Universal Life-Force Energy, it will never run out! When a Reiki practioner gives a reiki treatment, they are giving their time and intent to assist, but not giving away their own energy. Reiki is in infinite supply. It never runs out.
Is Reiki a religion?
No, it’s not a religion. It is very spiritual in nature, but there is no belief required in order to learn and use it. The beauty of reiki is that it will work regardless of whether you believe in it or not.
Why is Reiki called “smart energy”?
Reiki is an intelligent energy because it knows which areas of the body most need healing and will automatically flow to specific areas where suffering or imbalance are prevalent.
